Relay Victory
After taking a few victory laps with the USA flag, I decided to grab the Texas flag and be a little more specific about where I was from!

Vancouver Warm-up
I honestly can't say exactly when this was, but I think I'm warming up for the men's relay.
The reason for this is because I have those sharp Oakley Flak-Jackets on.
I only wore those for the relay final.
Shout out to Thomas for this awesome shot, no editing at all on my part.

Opening Ceremonies
FIND MALONEY!!!
This was the best part of the entire Olympics for me, medal ceremony included.
Being able to be one of the 216 that walks out and represents the greatest country on earth, never been more proud.
THIS was a true dream realized.
(look for the only one with out a beanie on, i forgot to put it back on lol)

1500 meter #1 - Semi
This is the beginning of the second day of racing.
I had the number two helmet cover on the whole day.
We had semi-finals and finals for the 1500 meter.
Each round as difficult as the next.

1500 meter #1 - A Final
The A final where the elite battle for final points.
Top 2 from each round, 6 total (in most cases), make it through from the semi-finals.
In this A final I was accompanied by: J.R. Celski, Apolo Anton Ohno, Travis Jayner, Simon Cho, Charles Leveille, & Eddy Alvarez.
Quite an exciting race.
In this photo, teammate JR takes a slightly wider entry into the corner that I'm not ready for.
He caught me a little off guard.

It got pretty crazy on this straight.

1500 meter #1 - A Final
The finish!!!
Apolo and I didn't catch JR, so we are left to fight for second.
We got pretty tangled here at the line and I ended up going down right after these shots.
What a great race.

2005 World Championships - Beijing, China
This was my first World Championships in short track speedskating.
This was also only my third international Ice competiton from with the US team.
I made the transition in late 2003, then back to Inline, and then back to ice.
That means I was only in training about 7 months (not consecutive) before this competiton, and thrown to the wolves lol.

Making some last minute blade adjustments? Not really.
The rear bolt on my right skate was loose.
I went down about a half lap into my exchange after this, but we caught back up and picked up a bronze.

2003 Inline World Championships - Barquisimeto, Venezuela
This was the track venue for the 2003 Inline Worlds in beautiful Venezuela.

2003 Inline World Championships - Barquisimeto, Venezuela
If it looks slick, that's because it is. A regular 200 meter bank inline track but with a liberal coating of Pam... jk.

2003 Inline World Championships - Barquisimeto, Venezuela
Despite the teflon coated track, it was still a great venue.
And CHECK OUT THAT SUNSET!!! A very beautiful place to be.

2003 Inline World Championships - Barquisimeto, Venezuela
Oh yea, that's me with a balled head.
Go ahead and laugh your head off.
Wanna hear why?
If you've watched the video of my 15K elimination and read the description, you’ll notice that one of my competitors was diagnosed with cancer in 2003.
At beginning of this competition we had talked to his coach and found out that he was going through Chemo and was balled.
So like the crazy friends we are, Me and Steve Carter (in front of me) Shaved our heads and sent him pictures.
Shaun Thompson, great competitor, great friend, you are missed buddy. RIP

2003 Inline World Championships - Barquisimeto, Venezuela
Senior men's 1000 Meter Semi.
I was the only skater to qualify out of this round because only the winner makes it out and the next 5 fastest times.
The other semi was so much faster that is took the rest of the spots.

2003 Inline World Championships - Barquisimeto, Venezuela
The 10K points/elimination is arguably the most grueling race in inline.
This was also my first senior world championship medal and it happened to be a gold.
I remember actually hittin the wall really hard about half way through this race and having to encourage myself to keep going.
Good thing I did because this started my dominance of the 2003 senior devision.

Victory!! Not only did I win the race, but crossed the finish line first as well, doesn't always happen in a points/elimination race.
This exact shot was the cover of the Speedskating Times 10th Anniversary Edition.
Fourteen years of hard work justified, tasted very sweet.

I came from behind and won this by a hair's lenghts, was declassified to 2nd place in this race for impeading on Luca Presti (Italy) as we were coming over the line.
Basically, what happened right in this picture.
I thought I was robbed, but you be the judge.

I was obviously not too pleased with the judges ruling.
I got over it and got my revenge... you'll see =]

The finish of the 500 meter final.
I honestly had NO IDEA I was going to do so well in this race.
This race was just about 10 minutes after the 20K elimination and I was completely dead before we started.
I was also racing against a totally different field of skaters.
