Jordan Malone

I am a native of Denton, Texas and the only child of a single mom. I have lived in Nante, France; Oldebroek, Holland; Long Beach, CA; Colorado Springs, CO; Marquette, MI; Salt Lake City, UT; and of course Denton during my 25 year career as a speedskater. I began inline speedskating in 1990 at the age of 5, and participated in my first international race in 1995. I made my first World Championship Team in 2000, and turned professional the following season. In 2001, I earned the title of most decorated junior of all time, and in 2003 I was crowned the fastest man in the world by winning the Senior World Championships. I left the sport of inline with a total of 8 Junior and 6 Senior World Championship gold medals. Though I never competed in Inline again after 2004, it will always hold a special place of my heart. Ten years after I retired (in 2014) I was inducted into the USA Roller Sports Hall of Fame.

Since my birth into the sport of Short Track Speedskating in 2004, I've been the only US skater to compete in all 6 World Championships from 2005-2010, making 2014 my 13th consecutive US World Championship Team (including both Inline and Ice). I am the first skater to ever qualify for both Inline and Short Track World Teams, the only to do so in consecutive years, and still the only to hold World Champion titles in both sports. From 2004-2014, I earned numerous World titles including: 7 World Championship medals (2009 Men's Relay GOLD), 7th overall at the 2007 ISU World Championships, and in 2008 I was ranked 5th in the 1500m, and 6th in the 1000m ISU World Cup Overall classification. I was also a member of the 2010 Vancouver & 2014 Sochi Olympic teams where I skated 5 distances, earning a bronze medal (2010) & a silver medal (2014) in the 5000m men's relay. Despite 16 broken bones, 9 major surgeries, and 20 screws/4 titanium plates (that are still in my body), I've had one of the most successful speedskating careers, ever. My unusual life has taken me around the world, where I have been fortunate to learn so much about life. In Salt lake, I started my own composites business out of my garage. Under the name FCR (Full Composite Racing), I manufactured carbon fiber racing equipment for most of the Short Track national Team, including all four members of the 2009 Men's World Championship Relay team, all of the 2010 & 2014 US Short Track Men's Olympic team, and I was commissioned by USS to supply the entire 2014 Short Track Olympic Team. I have put this business on hold for the time being while I peruse my education.

I am now living in Cambridge, MA and studying 2A/6 (Mechanical Engineering, focusing on Controls, Instrumentation, and Robotics). I like to spend my free time (when I have some) these days with my wife. I'm newly married (Oct 2013) and I deeply enjoy the new life we share together. I also take time visit schools to talk with (and hopefully inspire) kids of all ages about overcoming obstacles and dreaming big. I've had the privilege of visiting 60+ school visits since Sochi and I've been able to speak to over 20,000 students.
